Teacher Day Special
I want to share my experiences during my studies with the world.
I completed my +2 in National Higher Secondary School, Mannargudi. During that time our Head Master was Mr.Sethuraman. He was very strict in student discipline. If any student involved in indiscipline activities, He used to call that student parents and will ask them to say apology for their children activities through mic. Each class room has a speaker. So we could listen the parents. How hard is it for the parents. We used to think why the parents should be punished for their children mistakes. But we could not express. Teacher like him to should change.
The primary task of the teacher is not just teaching the lessons. The student should know how to behave in the society. Because students are moving the teacher for long period of time than with their parents. So where can they learn all those things? I am a good ranking student so far. But in a critical situation, the student who called as waste and useless by the teacher only helped me to find solution for the situation.
Another worst thing I observed in my life is the student are recognized based on their marks. This makes the student concentrate on marks instead of getting the actual knowledge. I explain how. Assume that student is learning ultra sonic waves. The student should think that we are learning ultra sonic waves. How is it produced? What are all the elements involved in it? How is it used in various frequencies?
But how are they thinking. In last semester examination the application of ultrasonic waves are asked as question? So in this semester they might ask production of ultrasonic waves lets go with it. Why the students are thinking liking that? What is driving them to think like that? The answer is they are recognized based on their marks and not with their actual knowledge on the subject. This make them to involving in malfunction during their examination.
Inspiration is the key for any success
Yes, I completed my +2 (in computer science) with the marks 792/1200. I don't know even a single word in c programming. But I passed. I don't know how I passed. Then I joined diploma in IT using my 10 th marks.
In the first year, a teacher taught c programming. One day the teacher taught us the "switch" statement with real world application. I got inspired with the way he was teaching. Then in the examination, I wrote the answer for the "Switch" statement with another real world application. When the teacher distributed the mark sheets in the class room he specifically called me and project me as good thinking person in the class room. I started belief in my self that I can think differently. It gives the big boost for my studies. Whatever the teacher is teaching I started to compare the a real world application. Then I started feel that everything is easy.
Now I am a Lead Software Engineer in a growing concern. The teacher succeeded in their duties when I am able to apply what I learned during my studies in my work.
